ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Recharting time is almost here.  To the new parents, this is an annual process where we update our roster with the main BSA office.  Sometime in the next month, I will be sending out a message with a form on it asking who is planning to stay with scouts for the next year.  We’ll then collect annual dues and update the main scouts off with our roster.
  • Our den will be walking in the holiday parade this year on Saturday 11/23.  We are waiting for the information on where we will be to come in from the parade committee, so I don’t have all the details on this newsletter.  As soon as I have the info, I will send a separate message out to let you know.

Do you have an announcement for next month’s newsletter?  Something cool that your scout did?  Something fun your den learned?  If there’s anything you’d like to share with the pack, contact Chris Loseke at closeke@new.rr.com before the end of the month.

NEXT PACK MEETING

Saturday, October 19th -
Halloween Party

Get your costumes on and come ready to party!  We will be throwing our annual scouts Halloween bash, starting with a brief pack meeting, followed by games and a costume contest.

Our costume prizes will be awarded for:
  • Scariest
  • Funniest
  • Most creative
  • Leader favorite
  • Scout favorite
  • And new this year, best adult costume.  Yes, adults can win a prize this year as well, so pull those disco outfits out of the closet.  :)

We will have boat kits for the rain gutter regatta.  If you are unable to make it to the meeting and want to get your kit from the scout shop, scouts are doing the catamarans.  If there is enough interest, we are also planning to do an adult race using the “classic” rain gutter regatta boats and a sibling race.  Siblings can do either the catamaran or the “classic”.  We’ll have both kits on hand, and the cost for either is $5.

Also, popcorn orders are due.  Please plan to bring any unsold popcorn, collected money and a list of what you need ordered to this meeting, so we can get it Jen Rowell.  We’ll tally the totals and cover those at our November pack meeting.  If you’re unable to make it, please contact Jen to make arrangement to get this to her before 10/20.

Held from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 S Ridge Rd, Green Bay, WI - map

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Our pack’s very own Marcus Cantrall will be the recipient of a National Award for Meritorious Action.  He was on the scene when his Grandpa took a nasty fall on some snow and ice, and knew exactly what to do, thanks to his Webelo Readyman training.  Plans are in the works to have the award presented to him by District representatives at our November pack meeting.  Great work, Marcus!
  • We have two positions opening up on our committee.  Regina Young, who is currently our treasurer and awards coordinator, will be moving onto Boy Scouts with her son in February.  If you think you would be interested in either of these two spots (or both!), please contact me or Regina.  We can get you more information about it.
  • On the last page of this newsletter is a new addition.  I’ve added a link to the Scouting.org den meeting planning guides.  Very helpful for new and old den leaders alike!

Do you have an announcement for next month’s newsletter?  Something cool that your scout did?  Something fun your den learned?  If there’s anything you’d like to share with the pack, contact Chris Loseke at closeke@new.rr.com before the end of the month.

BALOO training
Love camping?  Scouting offers a training course called BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) that give lots of great information on pack overnighters.

One requirement of the council for any overnight camping is that at least one BALOO trained leader is present.  It would be great if we could have at least one parent (more is better!) attend this training, as we are losing our pack’s last BALOO trained leader this year when Bruce Cantrall moves up to Boy Scouts.

If you would be interested in being a BALOO trained leader, please let Chris Loseke know.

Held from 8:00am until 4:30pm at Camp Rokilo in Kiel, WI - map

activities that will take your pack to the next level. This is for all Cub Scout Leaders, Den Chiefs
and even parents. Hundreds of adult leaders attend this event every year and come away with
a better understanding, renewed enthusiasm and new ideas to add to their program.

Cost is $25 per person if registered by October 18th.  Child care is available at a cost of $10 per child.
